Jocelyn’s green eyes softened. “I did notice he wasn’t here, Clary. I just didn’t know if you’d want to talk about it.”

“I mean,” Clary went on doggedly, “do you think there’s something Jace could do to make you like him?”

“Yes,” Jocelyn said. “He could make you happy.” She touched Clary’s face lightly, and Clary clenched her hand, feeling the bell press into her skin.

“He does make me happy,” Clary said. “But he can’t control everything in the world, Mom. Other things happen — “ she fumbled for words; how could she explain that it wasn’t Jace making her unhappy, but what was happening to him, without revealing what that was?

Today was a big day for all Mortal Instruments fans. As we had announced before, Cassie held a live chat from NY City via Ustream to discuss all things MI related with her fans. She had promised us some exciting news (she clarified that the announcement was not movie related on her LJ ) and boy did she deliver. Apparently, City of Fallen Angels will NOT be the last book in the series and is in fact, the first book of the second cycle.

The two novels,City of Lost Souls and City of Heavenly Fire, are true sequels and will continue the story in the same format as the first three books. CoLS has a tentative spring 2012 release while CoHF is set for a 2013 release. Not counting Clockwork Angel and City of Fallen Angels, we fans have 4 more books to wait for. Pretty exciting right?

Cassandra recently updated her livejournal with news about a signing on August 4 as well as more photos from the graphic novel!

As a lot of you already know, I’ll be doing a special signing at 7pm EST on August 4th at Barnes and Noble in Union Square, New York City. I’ll be answering questions about The Mortal Instruments, Clockwork Angel, and City of Fallen Angels (a chapter of which is included in the paperback City of Glass which will be released August 3rd, and which I’ll be signing that day. I’ll also sign anything else you bring, but the bookstore does want you to buy your paperback copies of Glass there). I’ll reiterate the information about upcoming book projects that I announce in the 5pm Ustream Chat earlier that day. I will also have some Very Special Guests: blackholly and Maureen Johnson will be emceeing, and Nicole Virella, who is the artist doing the TMI comics will be there, too, talking about the experience of doing the comics and the process of what went into designing the characters — and giving away an original sketch as a prize. We’ll also be raffling off a clockwork angel pendant like the one Tessa wears in the books.
